Osteoporosis and Flax Seed Oil

Patient: Doctor, Doctor, I hurt all over, see, it hurts here, and here, and here (patient proceeds to poke various parts of body)

Doctor: I see, you've broken your finger.

The information collected from a rat study suggests that post menopausal women (PMW) who are diabetic may be more prone to osteoporosis than those PMW who are not.

Specially bred rats that were created to express signs and symptoms of both menopause and osteoporosis, which were supplemented with flax seed oildemonstrated increases in biomarkers of healthy bone formation such as IGF-1 and osteocalcin. This suggests that flax seed oil may be a therapeutic tool in addressing and/or helping to prevent osteoporosis.
